The Bunker Hill Tavern opened in 1832. Rapid success led to the expansion of the Bunker Hill Tavern in both 1834 and 1838.

Adjacent to the Bunker Hill Tavern was a plot of land that once was the location of the livestock pens. These pens were used by drovers to safely contain livestock overnight.

Behind the Bunker Hill Tavern ran a creek that was used by both livestock, drovers, and guest at the Bunker Hill Tavern.

Today this road is the OH-177 but, in the 19th century this road was an unpaved path used by drovers to get livestock to Cincinnati.
